Larry came to us when he was out of time at the local shelter. He and tulip were found running the streets together by animal control. We would like them to go to a home together but would consider separating them if need be. The pair have been through a lot. They would make a perfect addition to any family. They are a little traumatized by their shelter experience but are now in a safe and loving foster home. They are great with all dogs and people. 1 year old To meet this lovely dog in person, please email planethappypaws@gmail.com Please visit link to see more photos- ... Animal ID: ScoobiedoocrewrescueMaggie (female)

Westie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy
Health: Blind

My name is Maggie i have been in rescue for about a year with no luck finding a home to call my own. I have had a bit of a rough start. I was abandoned on the streets of to Mexico where I was matted with flees and ticks. I seem to have had house training tho as I go on my pee pads and I stay off furniture. Im good in the car and Love to play fetch I even bring the toys back to you or I self entertain and toss them around. I walk well on my harness and leash however I do not do good with strangers. When they approach me I will growl or bark. Although I'm not fully blind my vision is not the best I was treated for dry eyes. I'm most ... (Read More)weary of Hispanic men maybe I was hit by them before I cAnt to the US. I live with other dogs and a cat and do great . I don't always like to share my food bowl with them so they usually feed me seperate however I've gotten better about it . I'm guessed to be around 5 years old. I'm not bad with kids but my fosters prefer I go to a home with no young kids as I have trouble seeing. My main thing is introducing me to strangers or house guests. basically you have to have them throw my ball or treat. it only takes me a few minutes and once i sense your not a threat im your buddy. For the most part I'm hypo and around 20-25 pounds. No idea what my breed is. I would like to live in a adult maybe retired home low maintenance with not a lot of foot traffic. When I came to rescue I seemed to have had a litter but you wouldn't know it by looking at me now. I come spayed vaccinated dewormed microchiped flee and tick dipped. . Rescue Me ID: 16-10-09-00372Sidney (male)

Westie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Please read dog's entire written bio before contacting rescue. To inquire about this dog, you do not need to press any special buttons on this website. Send a regular e-mail to Janet Cook at: adopt@angelsheartdogrescue.com. Please provide some information about your home, family and other pets. Angel's Heart Dog Rescue is a private, foster home based rescue. Though there are some steps that precede meeting a dog, they are quick and expeditious. Thank you! SEE VIDEO ALSO ON THIS PAGE! Sidney is a two to three-year-old male West Highland Terrier/Unknown Terrier/Schnauzer mix who was rescued from the Devore Animal Shelter. He is ... (Read More)mostly cream colored, with some tan markings throughout his coat. He is a low to no shedding dog, and may even be hypoallergenic. His coat does not require professional grooming; he is wash and wear, with maybe a bit of brushing now and then. Though he is a wire-haired terrier, his coat is actually quite soft. He is one of those cute, shaggy dogs! Being 19.4 lbs. he is a GREAT size; he is still technically a small dog, but with a medium-sized dog feel. Sidney is a sweet and loving, affectionate, good-natured happy dog that loves to hang with his people. He is a bit of a Velcro dog, but is also a good balance between going off to explore and play, and chilling next to you on a pet bed. He enjoys various toys, and can play with an array of toys by himself, but much prefers playing with other dogs, especially chase, wrestle, ball throwing (he knows how to retrieve the ball and bring it back to you!) and tug-of-war. He has been exposed to multiple dogs, big and small, and does well. Sidney can even be a playmate to a larger dog, as long as that dog knows how to be nice to smaller dogs. He is crate-trained (at the rescue, dogs are crated to eat, sleep, and if I have to leave for a bit) and all that I have to do is point to the open door of the crate and he goes right in. Sidney rides well in the car and is not destructive in the house, though he does have some traits that are inherent to terriers. Sidney is responsive to instruction and redirection (he seeks to please his person) but could benefit from a basic training class to help him learn more commands. He is potty-trained; (however potty reinforcement and observation is always good in any new environment). Sidney is a dog that would become bored if he were asked to be a lazy dog that mainly lies around the house all day. He gets a lot of his needs met by being with the other dogs here at the rescue. If there was no other dog in the home for Sidney to play with, he would need more in the line of regular structured activities. We have not tested Sidney around young children but it seems as if he would be fine with kids as long as they understand to be respectful and gentle. For a short stint we placed him in one of our foster homes where there are two other dogs, but also five cats. At first, Sidney barked at the cats, but these cats are dog savvy so they just stood there. By the next day though, Sidney was fine with all of the cats. If Sidney were to be placed in a home that has cats, the cats would need to be the type that are unaffected by the presence of a dog in the home. Sidney has a slight issue with separation, but please do not misunderstand; we leave for hours at a time, and he is fine, either crated, or loose with the other dogs who are also in the home. The separation thing is more so that if you are at home and he cannot see where you have gone. But he is not the type of dog that cannot be left. He does very well walking on the leash when the handler is in control of the walk. The home we seek for Sidney is a home with another welcoming dog who will be his friend and playmate, as well as people who are not collectively gone for long hours on a daily basis. We may consider a home where he is the only dog depending on the circumstances but our preference is another dog in the same home, as he enjoys other dogs immensely, and seems to need the play outlet and brain stimulation of a canine pal. A yard is a huge plus. Sidney is neutered, fully vaccinated (including rabies), Front-lined, dewormed, and micro-chipped. If you are interested in Sidney, please contact Angel's Heart Dog Rescue at: adopt@angelsheartdogrescue.com. The phone number to the rescue is: 626-340-9316. There is no need to phone the rescue until you have first submitted an interest via e-mail. Please visit my website at: http://www.angelsheartdogrescue.com and go to the Adoption Tab to read about the adoption process and fees; thank you! (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Westie in California
Westie Dogs can make good pets in California if they match your IifestyIe. The West Highland White Terrier, or Westie, is a spirited little white dog. Westies are very sociable, good with children, and can be socialized to get along with other pets. Male Westies may not get along well with other males, and Westies may chase cats. This breed can live in an apartment if it gets enough exercise.

lnteresting Westie Trivia Low-Cost California Spay & Neuter Clinics
Westies are simply Cairns bred for their white coats. Westies come from Argyll, Scotland. Westies are excellent ratters. The white coat of a Westie helps hunters tell the difference between the dogs and their quarry. Westies originated through an accident of genetics when a Cairn delivered white puppies in its litter.
