Westie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Baby is a sweet and friendly girl who was an owner surrender to the shelter. She is very quiet and calm, loves to hang out with you and cuddle. She would be best in a home with older children and/or calm dogs, probably no cats. She is great with people!! Very playful and sweet, alert and defensive with cats, other dogs and animals, but calms down when picked up. Baby is epitome of a terrier- always sniffing and exploring. She is not fully house broken yet so needs a special someone to train & encourage her. She improved considerably on a leash, but she can be very stubborn and not walk. She was fine in a crate during the day but whines in ... (Read More)the crate at night.' Bary likes to be in your lap and likes to go for walks. (Less)

Please read dog's entire written bio before contacting rescue. To inquire about this dog, you do not need to press any special buttons on this website. Send a regular e-mail to Janet Cook at: adopt@angelsheartdogrescue.com. Please provide some information about your home, family and other pets. Angel's Heart Dog Rescue is a private, foster home based rescue. Though there are some steps that precede meeting a dog, they are quick and expeditious. Thank you! SEE VIDEO ALSO ON THIS PAGE! Sidney is a 3-year-old male West Highland Terrier/Schnauzer mix rescued from the Devore Shelter. He is mostly cream colored, with some tan markings ... (Read More)throughout his coat. He is a low shedding dog, and may even be hypoallergenic. He is basically wash and wear, with maybe some brushing now and then and some clipping around his eyes so he can see, but eventually, his coat can get longer so a professional grooming can occur very occasionally. Though Sidney is a wire-haired terrier, his coat is quite soft. He is one of those cute, shaggy dogs! He is a GREAT size; he is technically a small dog, but has a medium-sized dog feel. He weighs around 22 lbs. Sidney is good natured, sweet and loving, and loves to hang with his people. He is a Velcro dog, but can also go off to explore and play (with another dog). He enjoys various toys, and can play with an array of toys by himself, but ultimately loves playing and exploring with the other dogs, chase, wrestling, and tug-of-war. He can play ball with the humans too (he knows how to retrieve the ball and bring it back to you!). Sidney has been exposed to multiple dogs, big and small, and does well. He can even be a playmate to a larger dog, as long as that dog knows how to be nice to smaller dogs. He is well crate-trained (at the rescue, dogs are crated to eat, sleep, and if I have to leave) however, at this point, Sidney is left loose in the house if I am gone. A crate should be used during a transitional phase in an adoption. After an adjustment period, he can be left loose with the other dog inside the home, or with outdoor access by way of a dog door, as long as the fencing is secure (he cannot be excluded to the outdoors only). Sidney rides well in the car, walks well on the leash, is not destructive in the house, but does have some traits inherent to terriers. He is responsive to instruction (he seeks to please his person), is potty-trained, (however potty reinforcement is needed in any new environment) and masters the dog door. He does best with some structure, seeking direction from his leaders. He can be a bit nervous when meeting strangers, but warms up quickly with a toy or a treat. He gets a lot of his needs met by being with the other dogs here at the rescue; he is a more active, fun type that loves to play, run around the yard and explore, chase birds and lizards, but can also lie around the house and chill like any dog. The home we seek for Sidney has another dog social and welcoming dog who also enjoys playing, but mainly, a dog that likes other dogs and likes Sidney too, as well as people who are not collectively gone for long, extended hours on a daily basis. Sidney seems to need the play outlet and brain stimulation and companionship of a steady canine pal. Some semblance of a yard is a must. An appropriate sized wire crate (purchased or borrowed) will be required for Sidney's adoption to help support the transitional period to a brand new setting, mainly, when folks are away from home, during the initial stages. Sidney is neutered, fully vaccinated (including rabies), Front-lined, dewormed, and micro-chipped. If you are interested in Sidney, please contact Angel's Heart Dog Rescue at: adopt@angelsheartdogrescue.com. The phone number to the rescue is: 626-340-9316. There is no need to phone the rescue until you have first submitted an interest via e-mail. Please visit my website at: http://www.angelsheartdogrescue.com and go to the Adoption Tab to read about the adoption process and fees; thank you! (Less)

Westie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Tramp is a 1 year old male terrier mix. He's playful and sweet, happy to meet anyone and any dog, any time! He is good with kids, both young and older, and is very gentle. He still has his puppy energy and loves to play with other dogs, big or small. He prances when he walks. We think he would be fine with cats. He is crate trained and house trained. He loves to cuddle too. If you're looking for the perfect family dog, look no further. If it's a lap dog you want, he's your guy. Tramp needs to learn to walk a little better on a leash, and needs to learn his basic commands. He weighs about 20#. All our dogs are up to date on shots, neutered ... (Read More)and microchipped. Westie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Julio has completed his behavior training, he will require a committed and experienced owner. He is a fantastic little ragamuffin who will give you his all if you earn his trust with just a couple weeks of routine and showing him you know what you're doing. We are recommending a home without children, well because children don't quite follow the rules at times and Julio is a stickler for rules. He's very cool little companion once he gets to know you, he can hike and run for miles! He is crate trained and prefers no one disturb him in his crate or while he's eating. He knows sit, stay, and wait commands. He is excitable so another dog ... (Read More)in the home who is well adjusted will be best (no high energy or disobedient dogs are best). We've invested a ton of resources into this fella and he comes with post adoption dog training and education support for you. PIease Read Before Adopting a Westie in California
Westie Dogs can make good pets in California if they match your IifestyIe. The West Highland White Terrier, or Westie, is a spirited little white dog. Westies are very sociable, good with children, and can be socialized to get along with other pets. Male Westies may not get along well with other males, and Westies may chase cats. This breed can live in an apartment if it gets enough exercise.

lnteresting Westie Trivia Low-Cost California Spay & Neuter Clinics
Westies are simply Cairns bred for their white coats. Westies come from Argyll, Scotland. The white coat of a Westie helps hunters tell the difference between the dogs and their quarry. Westies originated through an accident of genetics when a Cairn delivered white puppies in its litter.
