|Rescue Me ID: 16-04-23-00159Molly (female)|
When Molly's rescuer walked down the aisle of the dismal Texas shelter, she was shocked to see the adorable (and very frightened) Molly tucked tightly into a cage...her time was up. Farfel's immediately got an email describing how incredibly cute and sweet this Westie mix is..and the need to save her life. We immediately agreed and Molly became a very treasured Farfel's dog. Molly earned a ticket to a wonderful new life in Colorado with her great personality and kind and positive attitude (once comfortable) toward the world. At 4 - 5 years old and 17 lbs (such a great size and age to be beyond puppyish behavior and be able to accompany her family just about anywhere), this beautiful and cuddly girl is just waiting for positive and loving input and guidance to be the best adult dog she's capable of being. We'd love to match Molly to a family that will spend lots of time with this very sweet girl. She would love a hike through the mountains with sunshine on her face or a leisurely walk through a neighborhood saying hi to friendly neighbors. Molly would be a star (she's incredibly smart) in Positive Reinforcement group obedience class. These classes will not only provide great socialization and behavioral skills...but will cement the relationship between Molly and her family. Molly gets a lot of attention from dog-lovers when she's out and about with her foster. She has been identified as an eye-catching mix of a Westie and Scottish Terrier by the Texas vets. When she turns that gentle and wise look in your direction, you can't help but smile and acknowledge her Terrier intelligence, loyalty and sweet, cuddly nature. It is Molly's love affair with life and all the hardships that she's suffered along the way that motivates us to put her through Heartworm treatments..her precious life deserves to be saved! Molly has tested HW+ and Farfel's (with the help of Dr G in Denver) has volunteered to save this very special dog's life. The heart worm treatment process involves 3 shots followed by a short period of quiet time for the dog. We have found this protocol to be very successful and the dogs go on to live long, happy lives. We are seeking an adopter to lovingly care for Molly as she becomes Heartworm negative. It's quite an easy rehab process as it only entails mellow time with soft words and belly rubs. Farfel's will pay the vet bills and provide premium food and treats for this special pup as she becomes healthily heartworm-free. You can see a sign that this sweet girl has had difficult times. But not for her to be negative..a smile and a wag once she is comfortable is more Molly's style. It's clear that she's beginning to leave the pain behind and is finding lots of reasons to be joyful. Farfel's Rescue is searching for dog-loving retirees or a family with very gentle older kids for Molly's family. It's not that she doesn't like young kids... we feel that children that are old enough to participate in Molly's training regimen would be valuable to her success out in the world. Active retirees would also be perfect for this pup. She would thrive on the time and attention that she could share with them. Molly is a loyal and positive girl..this makes her very easy to spend time with just enjoying the wonders of life in Colorado. Molly would enjoy time with other sweet dogs who can be fun-loving yet very gentle playmates. Molly has a non-shedding (or so it appears), cotton-soft coat that requires periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep it healthy, cottony-soft and shining. A supplement like salmon oil will bring out the breed-appropriate beauty of Molly's scruffy coat. Molly will arrive on transport in Boulder on Friday 4/29/16. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. |Rescue Me ID: 16-03-31-00026Sid (male)|
Sid is a 6 year old, 15lb, terrier. Said was relinquished by his 'family' to a high kill shelter in TX. Their reason for relinquishing him was non other than 'we are moving and do not want to take him with' Sid was acknowledged at the shelter for having such a great behavior and asked us to help them find this boy a loving home in CO. Sid is now ready to find his forever home here in CO. Here is what his foster mom has to say about him: 'This guy is absolutely adorable. If I had to guess, (he was listed as 'owner surrendered') he has been in a good home environment; maybe someone older who could no longer keep him or something like that. He is bright and loving; A good amount of energy for being six, but so, so sweet. He has gotten along with our dog beautifully; no strangeness or aggression and very playful. He seems to love people and is very warm and cuddly. I think he is trained but I can't be 100%.....................we have an outdoor room he is in with access to the yard and he has used the yard to go to the bathroom but it's so unfamiliar to him it's hard to be certain. My husband took him for a walk and he said he wwas perfect on the lead and he thinks he is definitely house trained. Sadly we don't have a cat or little children but seeing him with us and our dog I would be so surprised to find he had any aggressive tendencies. We have two crates with the doors open in the room and I've noticed he does go in the crates naturally and rest. I also think he would be pretty comfortable on a sofa or bed; he seems very adaptable and good natured. He is a really nice dog; sweet and friendly. I could not see any shedding coming from him, but do not want to make promises on this.' If you are interested in adopting Sid, please email us for an application at firstname.lastname@example.org (Less)

Westie Dogs can make good pets in Colorado if they match your IifestyIe. The West Highland White Terrier, or Westie, is a spirited little white dog. Westies are very sociable, good with children, and can be socialized to get along with other pets. Male Westies may not get along well with other males, and Westies may chase cats. This breed can live in an apartment if it gets enough exercise.
