Rescue Me ID: 14-08-28-00115Arthur-PENDING (male)

Westie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

When we are asked about a special rescue pup that is snuggly, sweet and very fun-loving, we can't help but think of Arthur. His smile is shining...and maybe just a bit mischievous. We know it's morning when Arthur's little head comes under the blanket...getting closer and closer..and then a huge kiss of love. This curious and really, really smart 2.5 - 3 year old, 7 lb Westie/Yorkshire Terrier mix is a truly great companion. There aren't many visible signs that Arthur was in a very scary high-kill shelter. It did take a toll on his coat...a spa day with a sudsy bath and grooming will give his new, healthy coat a chance to grow in. He's ... (Read More)sometimes shy and can be a bit afraid in certain situations..but a warm hug and reassuring words..and Arthur bounces back and cuddles just a bit closer. We picture Arthur as the best friend to retirees. He'd be so loyal.. and overjoyed to share his love and good will. There's also no question that Arthur would be the most popular guy on the block. Once comfortable, he loves to engage and just be his entertaining, adorable self. Even though Arthur is usually up for pretty much any activity, he's never pushy or yappy. Exercise..perhaps long, leisurely walks to socialize with neighbors..and mental stimulation that comes from his time with his humans is important to Arthur to keep him happy and well-behaved. it's not that he requires extensive amounts, just enough to keep him healthy and stimulated. Arthur would also enjoy time with older (12+) dog-loving kids. He's such an easy guy to bring along. You can just scoop him up and he'll lie happily in your arms. Or grab a backpack and Arthur will snuggle down for a long hike with a great view from above. Arthur derives so much joy from his relationships, we would love to see him in an active family that just loves him dearly...he's a great pup who deserves this in his life. This adorable and really humorous Westie/Yorkie mix is a non-shedder. Arthur will therefore require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his stunning cinnamon coat matt-free and cottony-soft. Arthur will arrive on transport in Denver 8/29/2014. If interested in this sweet and exceptional companion, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-08-28-00023Sunny-PENDING (male)

Westie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

The Cairn Terrier/Norfolk Terrier mix is a perfect combo for those who are searching for an extremely smart and loyal family dog. Of utmost importance...both breeds are famous for their great temperaments and extremely loving and snuggly ways. They're also known to be trustworthy and very kind with family members and other gentle pets. Sunny is a very social being and therefore requires a certain number of neighborhood walks with socialization. At any time a fun adventure is the order of the day - count him in! These mixes are known to engage joyfully and energetically and then crash on the couch snuggling close to their favorite humans and ... (Read More)canines. Sunny is an absolutely adorable and sweet guy who favors the intellect of the Cairn while taking on the very engaging qualities of the Norfolk Terrier. Sunny appears to be a non-shedding pup and will therefore require periodic baths/brushing and great nutrition to keep his coat healthy with a golden sheen. As he loses the old hair of his shelter days, Sunny's coat will grow in shining and gorgeous. Sunny's sweet nature is just waiting to be enjoyed and appreciated...he makes close playmates everywhere he goes. He is very friendly and engaging... that means everyone he meets has the potential to become a close companion. You know when a loved one approaches, Sunny's tail starts the greeting and it wiggles up through his entire body ending into a smile. And if your lap is available, up Sunny goes to cuddle and snuggle and let you know the level of his devotion. Sunny is such a wonderful being...we think he represents the best qualities of the Terrier breed. At about 10 to 12 months old and just about 7 lbs, Sunny seems to have completely left behind the neglect and lack of love that made up his early life. He has become a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please - the happier his family is with his behavior, the more he shines with his accomplishments. We would like to see Sunny in a home that includes him in family time and activities...he loves to be involved and would thrive in a family that truly loves him and considers him a very important family member. Sunny would be a wonderful companion for retirees who have the time and desire to be best friends with a truly adorable young pup. Sunny doesn't require another dog to be happy...but he does enjoy his canine relationships with kind and gentle dogs. Sunny will arrive on transport in Denver 8/29/2014. If interested in this exceptional companion, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-08-10-00132Trina-ADOPTION PENDING (female)

Westie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Trina was far too sensitive and gentle a girl to be wandering the streets alone. And then into a very scary high-kill shelter..not a place for a very sweet and slightly shy pup. Everyone at Farfel's agreed that we needed to rescue and ultimately transport Trina to a new life in Colorado. This stunning (sorry about the just rescued photo...but a sudsy bath will bring out the gorgeous silkiness of her coat) 9 - 12 month old, 9 lb Westie/Poodle mix (or so the shelter and Texas vets have told us) is just a lovely girl! When she saw our rescuer arriving to scoop her up lovingly from her cage, Trina lit up. She knew, without question, that her ... (Read More)life was about to go through some wonderful changes! Off she went to be fully vetted, spayed, vaccinated, HW tested, etc.. and that all-important temperament testing. We're so delighted that Trina passed her vet exams as well as her temperament testing with flying colors!! The tester was moved by Trina's slightly shy and gentle nature and all the love in her heart that was just waiting to burst forth. As she handed Trina back to us she said, 'go out and get this lovely pup a truly wonderful permanent home. She will make some family the world's greatest companion.' And then she gave Trina a huge kiss (returned by Trina of course). Farfel's is searching for a super-loving and gentle home for this exceptional girl. We'd like either an adult-only or gentle children 12+ family for Trina...she's a gentle soul who would appreciate the quieter and more orderly environment of this kind of home. She would so enjoy the beautiful paths of Colorado - she loves walks and could be a great companion visiting with dog-friendly neighbors as she enjoys her outside time. We would like a family that spends lots of time at home... or loves bringing a wonderful pup with them riding shotgun. Trina is so pleasant and low-maintenance that she's always a pleasure to spend time with. She is great with other dogs as long as they're very gentle and don't expect wild playing. Trina is a non-shedding girl with a cotton-soft coat that will require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep it healthy and matt-free. Trina will arrive on transport in Denver on 8/14. If interested in this exceptional companion, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com. (Less)
