Rescue Me ID: 17-04-21-00246Reno (male)

Westie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Reno came from a life that was heartbreaking. It's clear that he was unloved and disrespected in a puppy mill. He was used, in the most awful conditions, to create more high-priced puppies..and so the cycle of abuse goes on. Reno was one of the very lucky ones that got rescued and transported to dog-loving Colorado. The New Mexico rescuers felt that he would one day (with the right person who is patient and doesn't require immediate gratification) bond into a loyal and loving lap dog who will give his entire heart to his family. Farfel's Rescue has every hope for Reno..we know that in the most loving hands, this blossoming will occur. ... (Read More)Reno was incredibly lucky again to be placed with an intuitive Colorado foster who knew exactly the right thing to do. She and her family assessed Reno's challenges from his previous life and spent a month or more simply making him feel safe. Through their efforts, Reno is making so much progress each day. They can see the glimpses of the emergence of a sweet and loving dog who will grace a home with his resilience and new-found love of life. At just about 2 or so years old and 8 lbs, Reno will become a guy that can be a full-time companion.. accompanying his guardians everywhere a small dog is allowed. Reno's foster mom found a cotton carrier for him...it's perfect for keeping Reno close and secure while socializing him to the outside world. Reno was a last-minute save for us...he would have been euthanized in a dismal New Mexico shelter if kind rescuers hadn't stepped up. But how could they not have? This little dog shows so much promise with his whole life lying in front of him. He just requires the gift of patience and understanding..and time to acclimate to his new home in his own way. Reno will be frightened initially since rehoming is scary...but with love, treats, patience and nurturing, we feel certain that over time he will emerge as a loving family member who will bring his special gifts to his favorite people. He also really enjoys gentle, like-sized dogs. We envision Reno with a patient and kind retired couple or individual...he would make so much progress with their patience and the time he could ultimately spend in their laps and enjoying everyday life together. Adopting (or fostering) Reno is a gift of the heart. If patient, you will have a loyal and devoted best friend who will love you unconditionally. Reno is being fostered in the Denver area. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. Westie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Noah would be that perfect companion for a dog-loving adult family that is searching for a true best friend. At just about 12 - 18 months old and 7 lbs, Noah is a very portable guy that can be a full-time companion.. accompanying his guardians everywhere a small and very sweet dog is allowed. Noah's wonderful foster mom found a carrier for him...it's perfect for keeping Noah close and secure while socializing him to the outside world. Rescue Me ID: 17-04-08-00151Indy-ADOPTION PENDING (male)

Westie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Indy is an incredibly cute ball of cottony fur that climbs into your heart (and lap) with a wag and a kiss. What isn't clear in this shelter photo is how truly beautiful this dog is with the stunning apricot and white streaks that run through his soft coat. Indy also has the most beautiful eyes with so much wisdom ...you just want to hug this little cutie-pie close. At approximately 2 - 2.5 years old and 12 lbs, Indy is a perfect size to accompany his family just about anywhere a sweet small dog is welcome... while being large enough to love long walks and outdoor fun. Indy (once comfortable) is every bit the young guy...fun and active. ... (Read More)But at the same time he is a happy and well-behaved pup (once he's used to his environment) who is just a lovebug. At this early point in Indy's development, he loves virtually everyone..be it human or canine. We want to nurture this positive vision of the world by matching Indy to a family who expresses their devotion for him in many different ways. We'd like Indy to attend positive reinforcement group obedience group classes to be the very best adult dog he's capable of being. We also feel that Indy would be most comfortable with an adult family (retirees would be great) or one with older dog-crazy kids where voices are softer and the energy is calmer. Right now, Indy is a blank slate who will soak up positive feedback with every effort to be the best behaved and most cuddly guy around. Indy is so loyal once bonded that he can easily be a constant companion - he would love nothing more than leisurely walks, trips to the store (he's a great window-shopping friend), lap-sitting or even a place at a pet-friendly workplace. Indy is flexible enough that he can be introduced to virtually any situation...and if there is love and gentle guidance...he can succeed. Indy's new family needs to have the motivation, energy and open heart for a young rescue dog. He requires behavioral guidance and tons of love to let him know that he's secure in his forever home. Indy will be fully vetted with up to date vaccinations when he arrives in Boulder. We've requested that he be neutered but aren't optimistic that this will occur in this area of New Mexico so crowded with homeless dogs. Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Indy's neuter and microchip if our Denver vet is used.. to be in line with our commitment to zero population growth. Indy is arriving on transport in Boulder on Saturday 4/14/17 (or one week later..will update when transport is confirmed). Applications are currently being accepted for sweet Indy. If interested in this adorable ...and very cuddly and loving best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. Rescue Me ID: 17-03-26-00406Lucky (female)

Westie Mix    Age: Adult

Check out these cute girls! Perrita the poodle (10 year old) and Lucky the terrier (6 year old) have been together for the last five years and are a bonded pair. They are ready for their forever home together! Who is ready for double the love in their life?! Both pups are kid friendly. Fostered in Denver. These two little girls are absolutely inseparable, so they MUST go to the same home. Perrita is a ten year old poodle who loves to lounge and hang out with her best bud Lucky. She doesn't see or hear all that well, so she lets Lucky be her guide when going on walks. Lucky is a 6 year old terrier mix with a heart of gold. Both were recently ... (Read More)spayed and are recovering wonderfully. Perrita is potty trained and Lucky is responding quickly to training, with fewer and fewer inside accidents. Both are kennel trained and prefer to sleep in the same bed. They are both non-destructive and super mild-mannered. Both are extremely child and dog friendly, and don't seem to be shy about new people at all. They enjoy regular, light walks, and prefer to stay close to their humans. Adoption fee for BOTH is $400.
