Rescue Me ID: 17-01-15-00439Reno (male)

Westie Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Reno could be that dream come true companion for retirees who love spending their time with a cottony-soft and very smart companion. There's no question that Reno would also do well with gentle older kids who enjoy the fun that a sweet little dog brings to a family. We'd like only older children in Reno's family not because he doesn't like young (and gentle) kids...he really does. But because Reno is only 9 lbs and about 8 or so years old, we want to make certain he's handled very gently. Reno does love playing (once he's comfortable) and is entertaining in his silly antics, positive energy and the love he wants to show to everyone he ... (Read More)knows well. Reno's story is all too common in his extremely close call to being euthanized in a scary New Mexico shelter....but who could ignore his adorable face and sweet manner? Reno is initially fearful but give him just a moment (a belly rub and yummy treats are helpful) and he inches just a bit closer to a welcoming lap. Before you know it he's gently loving you with a soft kiss. The awesome NM rescuers recognized all of this in Reno and knew that there was a home out there that would love, respect and make this little guy a permanent member of their family. It's terribly sad to understand that these dogs were used as a means to an end. Their purpose was to create revenue through puppies and then be thrown away if inconvenient. Reno was recognized for the gifts and love he can bring to a committed family. Reno would do well with anyone who's invested in spending time with their pup. He's so pleasant and portable that he can be a part of any adventure....it can be a leisurely walk, a visit with friends, a car ride on vacation or just an afternoon spending time together plopped down on the couch - all of this would speak to Reno's temperament. We aren't open to a home where everyone spends their days working full-time outside of the home....we'd like Reno to get more time and attention than is possible with that lifestyle. Reno's potentially beautiful coat has been sadly ignored..but with time, great nutrition and grooming, it will once again be the gorgeous coat that speaks of his breed mix. Reno requires a committment to periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his cotton-soft coat healthy and matt-free. Reno will be up to date on his vetting/vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to adopting out healthy and well-balanced pups. We've requested that Reno be neutered prior to his transport to Colorado. If this doesn't occur, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for his neuter and microchip if our Denver vet is used. Reno will be transported to Boulder on Saturday 1/21/17. Rescue Me ID: 17-01-15-00425Noah (male)

Westie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

The Westie/Maltese mix is a perfect combo for those with who are searching for a very smart, beautiful and loyal family dog. Of utmost importance...both breeds are famous for their silly and entertaining temperaments and very loving and snuggly ways. Terrier breeds (even tiny guys) require a certain amount of exercise and absolutely love being with their people...if a walk is the order of the day - count them in! These mixes are known to run joyfully along Colorado paths ...and then crash on the couch snuggling close to their favorite people. Noah is an absolutely adorable and engaging guy who favors the intellect of the Westie while ... (Read More)taking on the very engaging qualities of the Maltese. Noah appears to be a non-shedding (or perhaps very lightly shedding) pup and will therefore require periodic baths/grooming and great nutrition to keep his coat healthy and cottony-soft. As he loses the old hair of his shelter days, Noah's coat will grow in silky, healthy.. and less likely to shed. Noah's sweet nature is just waiting to be enjoyed and appreciated...he makes playmates everywhere he goes. Noah is social and that means everyone he meets has the potential to become a friend. You know when a loved one approaches, Noah's tail starts the greeting and it wiggles up through his entire body ending in a smile. And if a spot on the couch is available, up Noah goes to cuddle and snuggle and let you know the level of his devotion. Noah is such a wonderful being...we think he represents the best qualities of the Terrier breeds. At about 18 - 24 months old and just about 10 lbs, he seems to be leaving behind the neglect and lack of love that made up his early life. Noah is becoming a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please - the happier his family is with his behavior, the more he shines with his accomplishments. We would like to see Noah in a home that includes him in family time and activities...he's social and would thrive in a family that truly loves him and considers him a very important family member. Noah would be a wonderful companion for retirees who have the time and desire to be best friends with a truly adorable young lap dog. Noah doesn't require another dog to be happy...but does enjoy his canine relationships with kind and gentle smaller dogs. Noah will be up to date on his vetting/vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to adopting out healthy and well-balanced pups. We've requested that Noah be neutered prior to his transport to Colorado. If this doesn't occur, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Noah's neuter and microchip if our Denver vet is used. Noah will be transported to Boulder on Saturday 1/21/17. Animal ID: Ravi-ADOPTION PENDING  (male)

Westie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

The very first thing our rescuer noticed about Ravi were his very wise..and very frightened eyes in the dim high-kill shelter light. She stared at Ravi for a bit and saw all the wonderful possibilities in this Westie/Cairn Terrier mix. This photo definitely doesn't do this exceptional guy justice! A spa day is in order - underneath the deep matts and shelter dust is an exceptional Terrier waiting to emerge. Ravi immediately makes it clear that he desperately wants to love and trust. But the overwhelming shelter environment makes it difficult for a young guy who's had some scary experiences. Farfel's Rescue was happy to speak up for ... (Read More)Ravi as we also saw every possibility in this sweet guy. He was immediately removed from the shelter and taken to a loving and nurturing foster home. After a day or two of calm and kind words, Ravi became ready to experience his world. He's doing great and we'll attach his new foster report and photos as soon as we receive them. Ravi was clearly delighted with the turn his life had just taken! This 9 - 12 month old, 11 lb cutie-pie truly lights up when he feels like he's done a good job. With Ravi's continued acceptance of the love (and belly rubs) his foster is sharing with him, he's coming to understand that he's a very special guy. We feel that Ravi would do very well with either active retirees who enjoy loving on a young guy who's had far too little of that in his life. Getting out on a long walk to fulfill Ravi's exercise needs would speak to Ravi's Terrier personality. A dog-crazy younger family with older kids would also be a fit for Ravi. Once his exercise needs have been met...he's will become an all-time smuggler. He'd love nothing more at the end of the day than to cuddle up and show his devotion. Ravi would be so excited to spend his days in the company of his people. We wouldn't want him to be left alone for long hours waiting for his family to arrive home in the evening.. a few hours at a time are fine..but an entire day is just too long for an active and sensitive pup. Ravi is a non-shedding (or lightly shedding) guy with a coat that will need baths and brushing. His new family must commit to periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep Ravi's coat healthy and matt-free. Ravi will arrive on transport in Boulder on Friday 1/13/17. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If interested in this sweet and silly Terrier, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. (Less)
