Rescue Me ID: 17-02-20-00199Kai-ADOPTION PENDING (male)

Westie Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

The very first thing that Kai the scruffy Terrier mix wants to make clear is that he's a love and very handsome. In this photo, you're not aware of the striking golden and beige colors that run through his beautiful coat - with grooming, care and great nutrition, Kai's coat will show its gorgeous colors and be cottony-soft and shining. So many things are new to Kai...his adorable little nose sniffs at an outstretched hand...and then an ear to ear smile if it's a kind touch. But watch out..puppy energy may call and Kai is off for exploration and fun. At day's end Kai is overjoyed in your lap or next to you on the couch. He's so happy ... (Read More)there because his human relationships are so important to him. We have to remember that Kai comes from a very tough and sad high-kill shelter...we'd love a new family to give him tons of hugs and loving to make his transition into their home easier. Once this sweet boy is assured that all is well, he'll snuggle close. Kai, at just 5 months old and 10 lbs truly lights up when he feels like he's done a good job... some serious hugging and kind words will send him over the moon. Kai is such a people dog...he loves kids, but they definitely must be very gentle and handle him kindly. We envision Kai with active, dog-loving retirees.. or a family with older kids who are so excited to have an adorable and sweet dog as a family member and best companion. Kai would be so excited to spend his days in the company of his forever family. Being a Terrier, Kai loves physical exercise as well as mental stimulation. He would be a natural in positive reinforcement group obedience classes. He would love the challenge and is so smart and wanting to please that he would excel. Kai would also be overjoyed to take long walks through neighborhoods and along paths..enjoying the Colorado sunshine and time spent socializing with his people. Kai can have a moment of insecurity during his transition into a new home. This is from the turmoil that has recently been in his life...a guardian who is present and full of good intention can readily get this great guy past these feelings and let him know he is loved and won't be abandoned. Before you know it, Kai's silly and sweet nature takes over and he's ready for some fun play and belly rubs. Kai is a non-shedding guy (or lightly shedding..we're not quite sure yet) and will therefore require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his coat healthy, cottony-soft and matt-free. Kai will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 2/17/17. Rescue Me ID: 17-02-20-00185Daffodil-PENDING (female)

Westie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Daffodil is the the cutest little girl with a sweet and kind personality! At just about 9 months old and approximately 10 lbs (such a great age and size - old enough to be done with babyish behavior and ready to be a devoted and bonded companion that can go anywhere a great little dog is allowed). Daffy got a great temperament report with her rescuer noting that she is such a sweet girl that gets along perfectly with other dogs, cats and gentle children. Daffodil's rescuer said it the best...I rescued Daffy because she was in great need. Now, it's more than that...I love her because she's kind and brave in light of all she's been ... (Read More)through. She has this wisdom about her for such a young dog. She looks up at me with those amazing eyes that tell a thousand stories and I'm completely in love! She became my special girl...I know Farfel's will find the MOST special home for this gentle spirit! Daffodil is everything a family could possibly want in any dog. She is so low-key (well...maybe that's only compared to my 3 crazy dogs) She was so wonderful with my cat and the other dogs (she definitely stood out as the most sensible of the 4) and the activity of the 3 kids didn't bother this sweet girl at all. She happily gave them love and hugs...but then respectfully laid down with her chew toy. Walks have been great with this little dog...there are no worries about aggression toward other dogs or running children...only a wagging tail for everyone along the route. Finally I went to work in my home office. Daffy curled up on my lap with a smile on her face. She kept me company all day - talk about a best friend, they don't come much more loving or respectful! This girl will make a great companion for any kind and loving family! Farfel's has requested that Daffodil be spayed prior to her transport to Denver to fulfill our commitment to zero population growth. Unfortunately, we have our doubts that this will occur. Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs for Daffy's spay and microchip if our Denver vet is used. Daffodil will arrive on transport in Denver on Saturday 2/25/17. If interested in this cuddly and sweet best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-02-19-00087Theo (male)

Westie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

What isn't clear in these sad shelter photos is how truly beautiful this dog is with the stunning apricot and white streaks that run through his soft coat. Theo also has the cutest little underbite...you just want to hug this cutie-pie close. Once he gets a sudsy bath and his first grooming where you can truly see his face and very wise eyes...Theo will absolutely be one of the most adorable guys around. At 18 - 24 months old and 11 lbs, Theo is a perfect weight to accompany his family just about anywhere a sweet small dog is welcome. Theo is every bit the young guy...fun and active. But at the same time he is a very happy pup (once ... (Read More)he's used to his environment). At this early point in Theo's development, he loves almost everyone..be it human or canine. We want to nurture this positive vision of the world by matching Theo to a family who expresses their devotion for him in many different ways. We also feel Theo would be most comfortable with an adult family or one with older, dog-crazy kids where voices are softer and the energy is calmer. Right now, Theo is a blank slate who will soak up positive feedback with every effort to be the best behaved and most cuddly guy around. Theo is so loyal that he can easily be a constant companion - he would love nothing more than leisurely walks, trips to the store (he's a great window-shopping friend), lap-sitting (he's the best lap-dog every!) or even a place at a pet-friendly workplace. Theo is flexible enough that he can be introduced to virtually any situation...and if there is love and gentle guidance...he can succeed. Theo's new family needs to have the motivation, energy and open heart for a young rescue dog. He requires behavioral guidance and tons of love to continue his positive attitude about the world. Farfel's has requested that Theo be neutered prior to his arrival in Denver. We're not optimistic that this will occur due to too many dogs and not enough vets in this area of Texas. If it doesn't, we'll be happy to cover all costs for Theo's neuter and microchip if our Denver vet is used. Theo appears to be a non-shedding guy (although we would never swear to it) with the beautiful and cottony-soft hair that speaks of both breeds in his mix. He will therefore require periodic grooming and great nutrition (a supplement of salmon oil would be great) to keep his coat cottony-soft and matt-free. Theo is arriving on transport in Boulder on Saturday 2/25/17. Applications are currently being accepted for our sweet pup. If interested in this adorable ...and very cuddly and loving best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. Rescue Me ID: 17-01-15-00439Reno (male)

Westie Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Reno could be that dream come true companion for retirees who love spending their time with a cottony-soft and very smart companion. There's no question that Reno would also do well with gentle older kids who enjoy the fun that a sweet little dog brings to a family. We'd like only older children in Reno's family not because he doesn't like young (and gentle) kids...he really does. But because Reno is only 9 lbs and about 8 or so years old, we want to make certain he's handled very gently. Reno does love playing (once he's comfortable) and is entertaining in his silly antics, positive energy and the love he wants to show to everyone he ... (Read More)knows well. Reno's story is all too common in his extremely close call to being euthanized in a scary New Mexico shelter....but who could ignore his adorable face and sweet manner? Reno is initially fearful but give him just a moment (a belly rub and yummy treats are helpful) and he inches just a bit closer to a welcoming lap. Before you know it he's gently loving you with a soft kiss. The awesome NM rescuers recognized all of this in Reno and knew that there was a home out there that would love, respect and make this little guy a permanent member of their family. It's terribly sad to understand that these dogs were used as a means to an end. Their purpose was to create revenue through puppies and then be thrown away if inconvenient. Reno was recognized for the gifts and love he can bring to a committed family. Reno would do well with anyone who's invested in spending time with their pup. He's so pleasant and portable that he can be a part of any adventure....it can be a leisurely walk, a visit with friends, a car ride on vacation or just an afternoon spending time together plopped down on the couch - all of this would speak to Reno's temperament. We aren't open to a home where everyone spends their days working full-time outside of the home....we'd like Reno to get more time and attention than is possible with that lifestyle. Reno's potentially beautiful coat has been sadly ignored..but with time, great nutrition and grooming, it will once again be the gorgeous coat that speaks of his breed mix. Reno requires a committment to periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his cotton-soft coat healthy and matt-free. Reno will be up to date on his vetting/vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to adopting out healthy and well-balanced pups. We've requested that Reno be neutered prior to his transport to Colorado. If this doesn't occur, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for his neuter and microchip if our Denver vet is used. Reno will be transported to Boulder on Saturday 1/21/17. Rescue Me ID: 17-01-15-00425Noah (male)

Westie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

The Westie/Maltese mix is a perfect combo for those with who are searching for a very smart, beautiful and loyal family dog. Of utmost importance...both breeds are famous for their silly and entertaining temperaments and very loving and snuggly ways. Terrier breeds (even tiny guys) require a certain amount of exercise and absolutely love being with their people...if a walk is the order of the day - count them in! These mixes are known to run joyfully along Colorado paths ...and then crash on the couch snuggling close to their favorite people. Noah is an absolutely adorable and engaging guy who favors the intellect of the Westie while ... (Read More)taking on the very engaging qualities of the Maltese. Noah appears to be a non-shedding (or perhaps very lightly shedding) pup and will therefore require periodic baths/grooming and great nutrition to keep his coat healthy and cottony-soft. As he loses the old hair of his shelter days, Noah's coat will grow in silky, healthy.. and less likely to shed. Noah's sweet nature is just waiting to be enjoyed and appreciated...he makes playmates everywhere he goes. Noah is social and that means everyone he meets has the potential to become a friend. You know when a loved one approaches, Noah's tail starts the greeting and it wiggles up through his entire body ending in a smile. And if a spot on the couch is available, up Noah goes to cuddle and snuggle and let you know the level of his devotion. Noah is such a wonderful being...we think he represents the best qualities of the Terrier breeds. At about 18 - 24 months old and just about 10 lbs, he seems to be leaving behind the neglect and lack of love that made up his early life. Noah is becoming a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please - the happier his family is with his behavior, the more he shines with his accomplishments. We would like to see Noah in a home that includes him in family time and activities...he's social and would thrive in a family that truly loves him and considers him a very important family member. Noah would be a wonderful companion for retirees who have the time and desire to be best friends with a truly adorable young lap dog. Noah doesn't require another dog to be happy...but does enjoy his canine relationships with kind and gentle smaller dogs. Noah will be up to date on his vetting/vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to adopting out healthy and well-balanced pups. We've requested that Noah be neutered prior to his transport to Colorado. If this doesn't occur, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Noah's neuter and microchip if our Denver vet is used. Noah will be transported to Boulder on Saturday 1/21/17.
