Rescue Me ID: 17-08-09-00156Tootsie (female)

Westie    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

TOOTSIE NEEDS TO BE AN ONLY DOG. Tootsie is a loving little female about nine years old. She loves people, food and her toys. She has cataracts in both eyes and may be a little hard of hearing but that doesn't get in the way of her playing catch and keeping active. She interacts well with other dogs but can be territorial at times. She loves being held and cuddled and gives kisses when she learns to trust you. She loves car rides particularly if you are holding her in your lap. She is sensitive to loud noises and will bark at them but she is not a constant barker by any means. Having just gone through a 4th of July, we would warn you that ... (Read More)she probably should either have a thundershirt or calming drops on days where there are a lot of loud noises going on in the neighborhood. She can walk on a leash and loves the attention that goes along with it. She would do well in a home as an only dog but would get along with other dogs if she had an 'only person' to herself. She is a thoroughly sweet loving little girl who would add nothing but happiness to any home she goes to. Additional info: She's not a runner so I guess a fenced yard wouldn't be necessary. She likes being near people too much to go off on her own. I think she learned her lesson from her street days. I think she would be okay in a condo. She's not hyperactive and she's not a barker. It would have to be a quiet condo though because loud noises (Less)

Westie Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Suki and Sheba were rescued from a hoarding situation where she lived with 10 other dogs and 15 cats. She was well cared for by her elderly owner but not socialized with people. Suki lived in this home for 12 years. Suki, along with Blinky, was raised in a home with 15 dogs and 20 cats. When the owner died, we were asked to rehome the dogs. Suki is very shy and slow to trust. She is a low-energy 12-year-old girl who deserves to live out the rest of her life in safe comfort. lnteresting Westie Trivia Low-Cost Florida Spay & Neuter Clinics
Westies are simply Cairns bred for their white coats. Westies are excellent ratters. The white coat of a Westie helps hunters tell the difference between the dogs and their quarry. Westies originated through an accident of genetics when a Cairn delivered white puppies in its litter.
