We are searching for a special new home for our dog Sonny. Sonny is a 3 year old terrier mix that we adopted as a puppy. He is fully up to date on all his shots and has had immaculate care since he was born. Unfortunately, since we adopted him, we have had two children enter our family who have spread our resources thin. Additionally, Sonny is slightly anxious with little toddler aged kids and the combination of two children under the age of two in one home has proven to be an unstable environment for him. Our family is letting go of Sonny with a heavy heart. He is truly an amazing dog that has the ability to bring lots of happiness to a ... (Read More)home. He is a companion dog and loves to just be next to his owner. He is also a pack dog and protects his family and is also very trainable (he has instincts to please.) Our hope is to find him a home that will better suit his needs for exercise and out door play. We are hoping for a family that lives on a farm, a rural location or at very least a home that has a large lot or backyard that he can run in. Ideally the new family will have the ability to play with him regularly and provide him with opportunities to explore. Sonny has had a very comfortable life living and is accustomed to lots of cuddle time and cozy surroundings. Sonny is a a sheltie/airdale terrier/westie mix. He weighs 50 pounds and has a golden wirey coat that needs minimal grooming. He has a very mild shed. Sonny is fully trained, he LOVES to play ball and he has herding/retriever tenancies that make him very athletic. He is very loving and is good with children IN HIS OWN FAMILY. We have a 2 year old and an 8 month old baby... He has loved these children and has been a friend to them both. he plays ball with our 2 year old and I feel comfortable leaving him alone with them both as he has never shown an ounce of aggression toward either of them. However, with that said, Sonny is protective and does not do well with unknown and what he perceives as unstable people, such as other very young children that are not part of his family. He is fine with all older children (aged 10 and up) but he gets very nervous with toddlers that he is unfamiliar with and has shown mildly aggressive tendencies when the children are uncontrolled. Unfortunately, with the age of our kids we constantly have little toddlers coming in and out of our house. This causes Sonny lots of anxiety and is unfair to him. He needs a home where he is mostly interacting with older children or adults who can exercise him regularly. Sonny is very happy and loving and will make the perfect pet for someone seeking an athletic companion dog. Please message me with any questions. We will be very selective about the family we choose to send him to and will expect to meet and do a home visit before accepting the re-home. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-04-28-00569Tibor-Needs Foster (male)

Westie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

THIS IS NOT A FUZZY DOGS RESCUE DOG. There is an application process including an adoption application, home visit, and adoption fee. Tibor is an absolutely adorable shaggy doggy-a mix of everything cute. We are sure that he is some sort of Terrier mix, but this website does not have a general Terrier breed to use. He is a sweet little boy and quite a charmer. Tibor is about 3 years old and weighs 31 lbs. While he is a silly, social boy who wants to be friends, Tibor needs some patience while people are earning his trust. Because of this, he would probably do best in a home with no children or only children who are 12 years or older. ... (Read More)His favorite things are gentle scratches, squeaky toys, and car rides. He likes to jump and play. When he play-bows for a game, he makes a silly little growly bark. We do not know how he is with dogs or cats. However, we do know that Tibor is not fond of parrots. This smart boy already knows basic obedience commands. His adoption fee includes neuter and vaccinations. Can you give this cutie the home that he deserves? He will be your constant companion and loving friend for years. To foster Tibor, please check out information about fostering on our website at http://www.homewardtrails.org/foster-a-pet/pet-foster-forms/. If you are interested in adopting Tibor, please copy this link: http://www.homewardtrails.org/adopt-a-pet/adoption-forms/, complete the Homeward Trails Animal Rescue adoption questionnaire, and email the completed questionnaire to Rwarwick@nbm.org. PIease Read Before Adopting a Westie in Virginia
Westie Dogs can make good pets in Virginia if they match your IifestyIe. The West Highland White Terrier, or Westie, is a spirited little white dog. Westies are very sociable, good with children, and can be socialized to get along with other pets. Male Westies may not get along well with other males, and Westies may chase cats. This breed can live in an apartment if it gets enough exercise.
