Animal ID: SmokeySmokey (male)

Westie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Health: Neutered

Bonded with Flora, must be adopted together. YES, I'M AVAILABLE! Adoption application at www.aberdeenstr.com ***MUST SUBMIT APP before we will respond to email or phone inquiries. Thanks for your cooperation!****** Smokey is a sweet, small 11.2lb terrier. This little guy is only a year, so young to be in the high kill shelter we found him in where his time had run out. When we got him out, he had such severe pneumonia he spent a little over two weeks at our vet. He was treated with different types of medications, daily breathing treatments, and he was also given x-rays to check the progress of his health. When we got him out, we also ... (Read More)noticed on his cheek an abscess that the shelter had said they had taken care of, but our vet said it was oozing puss, so they needed to go back in and re-drain it. A dog such as Smokey will need to be very well taken care of for a few months because pneumonia doesn't fully leave their body for two months. He also cannot undergo anesthesia for 6 months no matter what the reason, unless it is to save their life. If they do, it can trigger pneumonia again. Smokey is such a cute boy. He is a young dog, full of life, love, and energy. He loves snuggling and hanging out by your side, he loves other dogs, and he is not a huge barker. We would like Smokey and Flora to be adopted together, they came from the same shelter, we got them out at the same time, and they might have come from the same home. They are being fostered in the same home and we really love seeing the love between the two of them! They would also do best if people were home during the day. Like most dogs in our rescue, Smokey will need work on potty training. Smokey has an adoption fee of $550 __________________________ **IMPORTANT DETAILS - PLEASE READ** An application must be filled out before consideration for adoption. Please do not apply for a dog until you are ready to commit a lifetime to him/her. We are an all-volunteer 501c3 non-profit group of animal lovers. Our adoption fee is non-negotiable as we need these funds to pay our current medical bills for our dogs as well as any future dogs we rescue as well. As an adopter, you must be prepared to accept the fact that these dogs are rescues and, just like you and I, they all have their own individual personalities. In most cases, these little ones have been through a difficult journey that started when their family gave them up or they became lost. They may have been under stress, neglected or even abused in their past life or frightened by being left alone on the streets to fend for themselves. Our number one focus is finding these little loves a wonderful forever home with a family who is going to care for them and show them what it is like to be loved, a safe environment, a full belly and a warm bed. These sweet babies do not ask for much from you but they may require a little patience and understanding. WE ARE NOT A SHELTER, WE ARE AN ALL VOLUNTEER RESCUE WITH FULL-TIME JOBS. Please do not contact us to come look at a dog We will contact you once we have received and reviewed your completed application. A Home visit as well as a reference check MUST be completed before a meet & greet can be scheduled. Thank you for your patience and cooperation. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-09-12-00274Matilda (female)

Westie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

YES, I'M AVAILABLE! Adoption application at www.aberdeenstr.com ***MUST SUBMIT APP before we will respond to email or phone inquiries. Thanks for your cooperation!****** Matilda is 2 years old and already at her young life, she has the most horrific story. When Matilda was surrendered to the shelter, she was surrendered in a filthy box, absolutely filthy dirty, full of fleas, matted down to her skin. On the side of her neck she had a gaping neck wound and a foxtail in her ear. We are not sure how she got her wounds, but we think she may have been someone's dog on the street. The shelter thought she might be pregnant, but when they went to ... (Read More)spay her, they found she was already spayed. Matilda's life had come to a very sad end at the shelter and she needed out immediately. We rescued this little love and got her fixed up at the vet, everything that she needed medically. She was treated for having a foxtail in her ear all the way down to her eardrum. For a couple of months that could cause neurological problems, but nothing that will not resolve itself. When you meet Matilda, she is a little frightened until she warms up to you, and then she is such a sweetheart! She is so great around other dogs, but we are unsure about cats or children. We'd like her to go to a home that has people present during the day. Like most dogs in our rescue, Maltilda will need work on potty training. Maltilda has an adoption fee of $550 __________________________ **IMPORTANT DETAILS - PLEASE READ** An application must be filled out before consideration for adoption.     Westie Dogs can make good pets in Washington if they match your IifestyIe. The West Highland White Terrier, or Westie, is a spirited little white dog. Westies are very sociable, good with children, and can be socialized to get along with other pets. Male Westies may not get along well with other males, and Westies may chase cats. This breed can live in an apartment if it gets enough exercise.

lnteresting Westie Trivia Low-Cost Washington Spay & Neuter Clinics
Westies are simply Cairns bred for their white coats. The white coat of a Westie helps hunters tell the difference between the dogs and their quarry. Westies originated through an accident of genetics when a Cairn delivered white puppies in its litter.
