Westies are simply Cairns bred for their white coats. Westies come from Argyll, Scotland. Westies are excellent ratters. The white coat of a Westie helps hunters tell the difference between the dogs and their quarry. Westies originated through an accident of genetics when a Cairn delivered white puppies in its litter.
